Jewelry Organizers

What woman doesn’t like some kind of jewelry? Be it an engagement or wedding ring, or a necklace you received for a special occasion, jewelry can be a special memory. It can also make or break an outfit, dress up daytime work attire for a night on the town or just make you feel confident. I have a lot of costume jewelry, some that I’ve made, some not, but I love it all and always have a hard time deciding what I want to wear.

I try to make jewelry that is easy to wear. As I’ve gotten older, I find it much harder to fasten clasps and attach the backs to earrings. Putting on a bracelet is near impossible without help. So when I make a necklace I use magnetic clasps, earrings generally hang from hooks, and bracelets are easiest to wear if they are elastic. I have found that I’m not particularly limited by these design elements and they certainly make the jewelry easy to put on and take off.

I use a lot of Swarovski crystals in my jewelry. You get a lot of bang for your buck because they are cut using a laser and computer so they always reflect the light perfectly for a beautiful sparkle. I also prefer silver over gold because its more affordable and I like the color against my skin.

It is easier than ever to make affordable jewelry. From diamonds to sapphires to rubies and more, many of the precious gems can now be made in a laboratory for a fraction of the cost of mining them and it is near impossible to tell the difference between the two. These days even the De Beers are making and selling lab diamonds. So even costume jewelry will sparkle and glow like the expensive pieces.

Storing jewelry can be a problem when you have a nice collection. I’ve made holders that stick on a mirror or other non porous surface, taking up little space, keeping it organized and untangled and looks beautiful. With it displayed like this I can easily see exactly what I’ve got. They hold about 20 necklaces or pairs of earrings. You can download the .stl file for free and print them yourself if you have a 3D printer. In addition to the filament you will need 2 small suction cups.
